umi said shine your light on the world

in class my teacher talked about the voice of this man, who had survived the Hollocast, and yet remained absolute and self assured. he said this man didnt scream out when he wrote, and he wasnt self depreciating; rather, he was utterly comfortable with how he felt, and with what he wrote.

just hearing him say that, i was so jealous. NO. i was inspired to find that voice, some day, find that voice which praises reader and writer equally. where to start with something like that, because i think i know what he was getting at, writing about what you see, and what is there in your normal life, is where you learn, not where you preach.

on the way home there was a spider on the inside of my windshield, and i had to wonder what the world looked like, zooming under its legs. or is that just the way we see things, except we have symbols and intstrucion manuals.

an assumption that i feel comfortable with is that we are, in no way, superior to any other animal on this earth. hearing a mouse through 3 1/2 feet of snow from 200 yards... smelling scents in terms of one part per billion... seeing without eyes, but instead with voice and innate understanding of envrionment. no, we are just different from any other animal, equally different. equally fragile.
